This summer, you might be able to dive in a submerged B747. Bahrein plans to sink a B747 structure for ecological and touristic purposes. The plane wreck should participate in coral development and growth of sea life. The kind of structures have already been tested around the world and have proven their efficiency.

The 70m structure will be 20m under the surface lying on the seabed. The sinking operations started on Monday June 10th. To respect its purpose, the B747 underwent huge depolluting operations prior to the sinking. All the oils, wirings, hydraulics, pneumatics and polluting materials were removed from the plane body with clean products.

According to the Bahrein minister of tourism, the structure should be ready for divers by mid-august.
