Air France’s low cost subsidiary ended its operations yesterday, on June 27th, 2019. JOON was created a year and a half ago on October 29th, 2017 in order to offer a new kind of service initially intended for “millennials”.
JOON operated 18 routes going from medium-haul flights to long-haul flights. Its fleet was composed of 15 planes counting 6 A320, 4 A321 and 4 A340-300. JOON had ordered 10 A350-900 which will be finally delivered to parent company. These routes and aircrafts will now be operated by Air France.
JOON’s employees had almost all contracts with Air France, only the cabin crew members were in contract with JOON. In fact, cabin crew members costed 40% less than Air France’s ones, this allowed to have more competitive fare prices.
