At the Paris Air Show, IAG (International Airlines Group) committed to buying 200 B737 MAXs. This massive order might revive the B737 Max as it is still not authorized to fly after the two important crashes causing the death of 346 passengers. The order amounts to 24 billion dollars and the planes will be allocated to Vueling, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Level and British Airways.
On June 20, Airbus asked to make a counter offer to IAG after this surprising announcement. Airbus’ CCO (Chief Commercial Officer) stated “We would like to have a chance to contribute to this offer” and that Boeing did not officially make a call for tenders.
