Travel Smart, Fly European.
Compensation rules are more favourable in the EU. and when flying from outside of the EU, its better to fly with a European company.
European airlines get higher rankings than American Airlines, they have Newer aircraft meaning fewer technical problems. Newer Planes also mean that they tend to be well-maintained. The customer protection level in Europe is higher compared to the US where is it almost non-existent. Regulation 261/04 of the European Union grants Compensation for delays, cancelled flights and denied boarding. There are rules and exceptions but in Europe travellers who suffer such disruptions can obtain compensations for up to 600 euros.
What about international flights ? well, while we hope this won’t happen to you, it is always better to choose an EU registered airline for a simple reason: one of the legs of your return journey doesn’t get the protection of regulation 261/04 if you travel on a non-European airline: the flight from outside into the EU.
Beware of code-sharing: the EU protection applies to the “operating carrier” which may be different than that who sold you your ticket.
When your flight has been disrupted, you can ask L8Flight.com to handle your claim, L8flight offers assistance with legal counsels for which you pay nothing upfront and never more than 25% of recovered monies. An easy way to manage an otherwise complex situation. If a delay is over three hours and within the airline’s control, you should gain compensation for your time stuck waiting or your cancelled flight.
Having this option allows a much higher customer loyalty, that is for airlines who comply with the regulation without trying do dodge their customers’ claims (and unfortunately many do, in particular low-cost airlines)
Of course such disruptions don’t happen all the time, about 2-3 % of the daily 25’000 flights in European skies experience such problems. But if you have chosen well your airline, if something like this happens, L8flight will get you money !
