During ACI Europe congress, Nice Airport signed an agreement to cut its CO2 emissions to 0 by 2050. This initiative is part of the NetZero2050 project. The ACI Europe unites executives of European airports to discuss on important issues. This commitment was signed by 194 other airports operated by 40 companies in 24 countries.
Nice Airport’s manager announced that this agreement “marks an important turning point in the ambitions of the airport sector to combat climate change”. Since 2004, Nice Airport has been trying to reduce its carbon footprint and since 2016, is certified Carbon Neutral level 3+ by the Airport Carbon Accreditation Programme. In Europe 43 airports re already carbon neutral with compensation, with the new agreement, the project is to make airports carbon neutral without compensations.
